PRINTING WITH THE ROOSTER!!!

10.10.08

We had a busy couple of days printing!  Check out some pics of the Mt. Eerie and New year posters being created!!!!!!!!!!!!!!  Rucchi and I were sweating bullets!  We also did our first ever CMYK Process print, that turned out awesome. I will post pics soon.

A little bit of news, a little bit of TUNE YARDS

10.10.08

Truman Peyote couldn’t make it on the 18th to play with WOMEN, so we’ve added THE VACANT LOTS and RYAN POWER instead!!!!!!!!  Not too shabby, I must say.  Two of my favorite local bands, and in fact, Ryan is recording the ‘Lots this weekend in Addison.  Excited to see where they will take it in the studio.

MT EERIE tickets are pretty much sold out, though a few will still be available at the door tomorrow night, we think.  Probably to go pretty fast.

Last night Mr. Ryan Power put together a fantastic show down at the Pine Street Studios.  I love going to shows down there, and they always have a fire outside in a beautiful firepit, even with some marshmallow roasting.  It just feels kind of enchanted and wintry and Vermonty.

I missed Cosmic Matrix, but I didn’t miss CHRIS WISEMAN.  Can’t track down his possibly myspace right now, but he had a lovely croon and some nice things to say through the medium of song.

Nor did I miss TUNE-YARDS. Holy shit.  It was like a Fela Kuti, vaudeville, Silver Mt Zion, power combo with a healthy splash of incredible vocal control and a dash of NOT BEING AFRAID OF WHAT WE MIGHT THINK OF HER.  What was running through my mind was the phrase “separate the wheat from the chaff.”  What I mean, is that, there are many people who play music, especially in the field of indie rock, without a ton of natural musical talent.  And that’s how it should be.  And it’s nice to go see music and feel like the people playing it are just like you, some people working together, playing things simply, maybe, with some great ideas.  That’s one of the big reasons we have rock music.  But then occasionally people do all that, and also have overwhelming chops!  You can buy Merrill’s album here.
